Do you have a love-hate relationship with food? One minute you love it, the next you’re feeling deprived and rebel by gorging yourself? Do you feel like no matter what you do you don’t feel good? Nothing works? Tired of diets that fail you every time.

Desperate to be free and eat delicious food without taking over your life or without gaining weight.

Well it’s possible!

I’ve been there. Boy have I been there! I grew up thinking the only way to be beautiful was to have a gorgeous, perfect, thin little body. So I lost weight, gained it back, lost it again, gained it again, lost it, gained it … It was a never ending cycle until I just gave up and gorged myself with chips and candy.

And I felt like crap. I hated my body and put myself down constantly.

I was completely out of control and couldn’t stop eating food that made me feel like crap. Funny how I’ll stop touching a hot oven after getting burned once, but continue to eat food that makes me physically ill.

After months of stomach pains, I decided to do something drastic.

    • I cut out sugar, dairy, and grains for a short period of time.
    • I changed my thinking about the food I ate and how I felt about it.
    • I changed how I felt about myself.
    • I embraced my body’s weaknesses.
    • I focused on how I could strengthen those weaknesses or accept them if unchangeable.
    • I focused my time and energy on the present and on my journey.

I focused on what worked for MY body. Not the cookie cutter program.

When I focused solely on my needs, what I was doing didn’t seem so drastic anymore.

It felt like it fit me. Like a glove.

I’ve been a personal trainer and trained for a bikini competition via bodybuilding. I know all too well about deprivation and an altered perception of my body and myself. And I also know how difficult it is to remain healthy in day-to-day life.

I’ve coached individuals through a variety of difficult life situations as a paralegal and human resource professional. I know there can be external barriers to moving forward and many more internal barriers.

When I’m not busy empowering others, I can usually be found hiking the Superior Hiking Trail in Duluth, MN with my 12-year-old daughter Jess and 8-year-old son AJ along with our little lab Bella. This little family of mine (to include my husband Bill, wise old springer/lab Smokey, and sassy cat Roxie) are my shining light. I’ve never felt so much love or had so little personal space …

Often I’ll also be exploring photography using my iPhone camera and losing myself in the world of macro, dazzled by the beauty and intricacies. And of course I’m always learning how to best capture those action shots of my family in motion.
